Students interested in pottery will learn the fundamental techniques in throwing to create functional work such as pots and bowls.  Stamping, carving and incising methods will be used to produce individualized pieces. Students will work at their own pace, beginners are welcome!  Final projects will be fired and glazed near the end of session.

Amy Traggianese is an art teacher in the Easton public schools and has over 20 years of classroom experience. In addition, Amy is a visual artist and creates with a wide variety of mediums, including clay, fiber and gourds.  For more information, go to www.TraggOnline.com.

From hemming pants to making your own drapery, you’ll save hundreds, even thousands by learning to do it yourself.  Even novice sewers will be successful. You can learn on your own sewing machine or use one of ours.  Bring your own project or pattern along with fabric, thread, buttons, etc.

 

Lisa Henderson-Roman is an Easton resident and owner of Creative Kids Boutique, a sewing, knitting and arts & crafts studio in Norwalk.  She has been teaching children and adults for 6 years.

Elena Niejelow moved to Europe at the age of 18 where she lived between Switzerland and Italy for the next 16 years. During this time, Italian became her second “mother-language”. She speaks and has mastered four languages (Russian, Italian, German and English) and has a great passion for them and all foreign cultures. Through her language lessons she looks forward to sharing this passion with you. The phenomenon of Henna Body Art is sweeping the nation with people avidly searching for the alternative to permanent tattooing that allows them to express their individuality and creativity. Come and join us as we take an exotic journey into the ancient art of Henna. You will learn a brief history, how to use an applicator, the secrets that will allow you to create your own henna mixture at home, how to apply henna to yourself and others, and take home a cone with left over Henna & keep practicing! Note: The instructor uses only green, plant based henna. A materials fee of $10 is payable to the instructor.

Has your sweet little puppy become too much to handle or want to teach an old dog some new tricks? This class will help you regain control and enhance your puppy to parent relationship. Your dog will learn how to obey voice commands on which include heel, sit, stay, walking on a leash and come on your command. Say goodbye to chewed up shoes, paw prints on your shirt and your dog leading you on a walk. This class will put you back in charge of your pet and make the time you spend with them more enjoyable. (You will need a six foot leash and a fitted collar)

Learn to prevent an outbreak of a food-borne illness in your operation while earning your

mandatory state QFO certification.  Every foodservice operation has been required by the State of Connecticut to employ at least one Qualified Food Operator.  The Connecticut Hospitality Educational Foundation (CTHEF) offers the SERVSAFE professional development seminar, with certification by the Educational Foundation of the National Restaurant Association. This certification program has already certified over 2,000,000 professionals, preparing them to operate safer, more profitable facilities.

 

Community associations planning to host events with food are encouraged to send representatives.

This course provides an introduction to MS Office and is a great way to learn new computer skills. Starting with MS Windows, you will learn about multiple windows, resizing them, and organizing your work with folders. Moving on to Word, learn the basics of creating, editing, and printing documents. Need help with calculations? Excel spreadsheets can automate what we do on the calculator and you will also work with charts and graphs, finishing off with PowerPoint, we will create a mini-slide show through the use of special graphics and other features.

Explore the computer; learn keyboard basics, using the mouse, creating, managing files and folders, how to manage objects on the desktop. Use windows, the taskbar, menus, dialog boxes, answer questions with help and use the recycle bin to delete and restore files. Work in My Computer and Windows Explorer to manage disks, drives, files and folders. Use Search criteria to locate files. Students will learn how to set up and manage their own e-mail account in class using Yahoo.com. Other topics will include how to protect your computer from Ad-ware and spyware using filtering methods and other alternatives and working on the internet and creating “favorite” or shortcut links to websites.
